Women in Gaming & Hospitality Australasia has partnered with UNLV/UNR Executive Development Program and Intrust Super to offer one scholarship to the UNLV/UNR Executive Development Program (EDP).

To promote diversity and best practices in the global gaming industry, WGHA will offer the Intrust Super EDP Scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, and airfare for one aspiring female gaming/hospitality industry executive to attend the UNLV/UNR Executive Development Program—a more than AUD $18,500 value.

Currently in its 30th year, EDP is a partnership program between UNLV International Gaming Institute (IGI) and the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business and Extended Studies. The program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for prospective gaming executives to explore new industry ideas, leadership strategies, and an opportunity to network with other gaming professionals from around the globe. This year’s program will take place in November in Lake Tahoe, NV.

Intrust Super CEO Brendan O’Farrell stated, “Women in Gaming & Hospitality Australasia continue to do amazing work in developing leaders that will move the gaming industry into the future.

It is critical to increase women’s participation in this fantastic industry as they bring a different leadership perspective, skillset and vision to the industry. Continually enhancing diversity within leadership groups can only lead to better outcomes for any business.

We are proud to provide a WGHA member the chance to learn from world-class speakers from around the globe.”

UNLV IGI’s executive director Bo Bernhard says, “We are thrilled to once again partner with Women in Gaming & Hospitality Australasia to offer this career-launching opportunity to a rising star industry executive. We are excited to be part of the mission of “expanding the leader-verse”—the diverse pool from which leaders are born.”

Helen Galloway, CEO of Women in Gaming & Hospitality, commented, “I am so pleased to be able to offer the Intrust Super EDP Scholarship to one of our emerging female leaders. This amazing opportunity will create lifelong career connections, which are invaluable to leaders in the industry.

We are working to address the challenge of female representation at senior levels by targeting the career advancement of women and advocating the progression of high performing females. By partnering with UNLV/UNR to offer this prestigious opportunity will help accelerate careers and provide opportunities that can maximise movement toward career goals.”

The EDP is the only course of its kind in the world, offering a 360-degree view of the gaming-hospitality industry. To be eligible for the Intrust Super EDP Scholarship, women must be a member of WGHAshould show ambition for holding a leadership position in gaming, and have a desire to further their professional education.

The inaugural scholarship was awarded in 2019 to The Star Entertainment Group’s Hannah Morelos. Reflecting on her experience, Hannah says “I am grateful and so proud to have completed such a challenging program. I know that this experience will inform the way that I move forward and the impact that I will have. The industry that I choose to be part of is vibrant, fast paced and innovative. Now, more than ever, it is also an industry that values the importance of social responsibility, diversity and inclusion. The 2019 cohort had the highest female representation to date.”
