Gaming has historically been a male-dominated industry with unconscious bias accounting for the gender gap in leadership. Affinity bias in particular affects recruitment, retention and the talent pipeline as hiring managers show a marked preference for candidates to whom they can relate which can play an over arching role in many selection decisions. With the perception that leaders will hire like-minded individuals with similar leadership styles, a heavily male workforce will be maintained.
To promote and encourage women to apply for board positions within the gaming industry, and increase the number of females in leadership roles, it is crucial that the awareness levels for the availability for such roles are improved.
To assist in overcoming this barrier, we would like to offer organisations within the gaming community an opportunity to advertise their board roles on the our website.
This platform is aimed at providing information, visibility and opportunities to ensure more women are appointed to boards within gaming.
